2 Methods Of Dog Training

by Aiden Hill

Having a new puppy can be a lot of fun. They are active and will play with everyone and everything. But having a new puppy is also a lot of responsibility. You have to teach them where they are allowed to go to the bathroom, what they can and can't chew on, and train them. There are several training methods that you can use with your new puppy. They aren't a one size fits all solution. You may have to try a couple of different ways to find the one that works best for you and your puppy or even try a combination of methods to make one up for you. So, what are some ways you can try with your puppy?

Positive Reinforcement Training

This is probably the most popular kind of training. Basically, you are giving your dog a reward when they do what they are supposed to do. In this training, the reward is often paired with another cue, like a clicker or a keyword. When you pair the reward with the clicker, the dog knows that when they hear the clicker, it's a good thing, and they have done what you want them to do. They also know that they are going to get a reward. Eventually, the clicker becomes the reward. But, until then, the most common reward is a little bit of a favorite food. The way that it works is that first, you give your dog a treat at the same time you use the clicker. Then you give them the command. When they do it, you click the clicker and give them the treat. If they don't, then no treat.

Relationship Training

This kind of training is more of a dog lead kind of training than others are. With this training, you are acknowledging your pet's feelings and stress levels. You help your dog learn your commands by breaking them down into smaller steps that are easier for them to learn, and then you build on them. You have to pay close attention to your dog and how they feel when you do this kind of training because if they are stressed or overstimulated, it won't work as well.

If you have a new puppy, you want to do everything you can to have fun with them. One way you can do that is to train them to do what you tell them to do and stay safe.

About Me

tips for training your large breed dog

My husband insists on having large dogs in the house. When he brought the first dog home as a puppy, I was excited and thought that it could be a good thing. As time went by, that little puppy turned into a big, disobedient dog that destroyed the house when we weren't home with him. It got to the point in which I threatened to move out of the house unless my husband did something to get his dog under control. He took the dog to training classes and learned how to train the dog to behave. Since then, we have added two more large dogs to the family that are well-behaved companions. This blog will show you some tips for training your large breed dog to behave properly.
